Do you ever find yourself flipping through your favorite fashion mag and falling instantly in love with an item only to look at the price and scream "that's my monthly freakin mortgage, who can afford that". It happens time and time again....beautiful clothes are...well....expensive. BUT when I happen to find a brand that makes beautiful, well made, affordable clothes....I jump on them like white on rice (sometimes my southernness just has to come out :) ). These fantastic grid print shorts are from Sylvia & Luka and if you haven't checked them out yet then stop what you are doing and visit their site!!! PS I can't wait to show these shorts again once it gets a little warmer, the pleating detail on the sides is just perfection. Happy Wednesday skrillas :)

For those of you that know me/follow me you are well aware of my printed pants obsession.....and this weekend I took it a little bit further by creating my own print. My favorite part of diy-ing clothes is you never really know what the outcome will be. In this case.....I am lurving it! Baahah I love that in one of these shots I'm actually break dancing on a stage and in another I'm on the phone with the husband about the groceries for the week....

If you are interested in doing this project yourself see the steps in the DIY album on the What2Wear Facebook page (just use equal parts bleach and water instead of fabric dye).

P.S. like my necklace/ bangle /ring? Well good news...through Thursday if you spend $50 then you get these 3 items and a couple more at 50% off! Um, what, yea I said it, that's a steal!!! If you are interested then check out this link....but be sure to order through this trunk show otherwise it won't work :)

Lately I've been dreaming about traveling to far off lands and experiencing new cultures....but reality is that's just not possible at the moment. Instead of wallowing I decided to put on my favorite French Connection dress that reminds me of Alice in Wonderland and take in as much as I can around me. Molly and I were shooting some outfits a couple of weeks ago when we came across this incredible vintage store......I really did feel like I had fallen down the rabbit hole into another land, it was magical, an "everyday wonderland" if you will. I challenge you guys to create your own wonderland this weekend, whether it be traveling to a new town or just sitting in bed reading your favorite book or magazine, happy weekend skrillas :)

If you would like to see more from this shoot be sure to check out the What2Wear Facebook page! Also, I post new outfits 3 times a week....but if you are interested in seeing what I'm wearing the other 4 days be sure to follow on instagram @doodlesmom812 :)

And in case you missed an outfit this week.....

Not Your Average Floral

top: bcbg (old, loving this one ) // kimono: stylemint (also loving this one )//pants: the limited (available here )// sunnies: ray ban (available here)// shoes: shoemint (similar here)// bag: furla (available here)// jewels: stella & dot
Let me start by saying yea....I could have stopped at just printed pants (ps I was having withdrawals).... and yea, I could have stopped at mixing 2 floral prints.....BUT.. I could also wear J Crew bubble necklaces, Tory Burch flats and David Yurman jewelry, but that's JUST NOT ME.  I like to get a little cray-cray with my outfits to inspire you guys to think outside your style bubble. I don't know about you but I'm tired of seeing the SAME BORING OUTFITS online and around town every day.......where is the creativity?????? I know my style isn't for the masses but do you know who you disappoint the most when you try to please everyone else.......YOURSELF :)

PS I draw inspiration from so many places for every outfit I wear so instead of doing the Copycat Lookbook series on Wednesdays I decided I'm going to show the inspiration behind every outfit on the What2Wear Facebook page! Also, I'm on Twitter!!! I still have no clue how to do anything on it but I'm learning! You can follow me here :)

As a lover of fashion I'm always wondering.....what's next? So....last Thursday I was supa excited to attend the Belk Spring 2013 Tour with the VP of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Direction Arlene Goldstein .   This week on the What2Wear Facebook page I'll be sharing with you what I took away from the presentation, including the top 10 things you need for Spring and I'll also be doing product reviews of the awesome items we got in our swag bags!! FYI, if you are in the market for some heels that double as weapons these are just the ticket....I tripped coming down the stairs in them and stabbed both ankles with the spikes.....there are literally a dozen tiny stab marks on both my ankles....happy Monday skrillas :)
PS the winner of the Stella & Dot Suzanne Cocktail Ring is Shannon Weel! Shannon please email me with your ring size and shipping info :) (monikabrooke@gmail.com)
