There is a certain saying that if you give a girl the right pair of shoes she can rule the world..... Well no offense to footwear..... But you give this girl a hat and she damn well will rule the world.

The Grapevine

"I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener."
John 15:1

Every now and again life just gives you a good pruning....... It rips you apart and leaves you bare for new growth. The hope and promise for growth is what keeps you going despite your open wounds...... At least that's what I keep telling myself......

Craving

This past week my internet has been on the fritz and last night while out of town my cell phone died and wouldn't charge to save it's life.... I officially went off the grid.... And you know what, it felt great.

In fact, lately I've been craving going off the grid completely. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for the advancements  technology has given us over the years, this blog would not even be possible without it......... It's just that, every day when I'm out sitting on the dock alone while my son is at school I stare across the water into the sound and can't help but think that, with the exception of the changing channels and different greenery, it's the same view that people for hundreds of years have stared at. The same, unscathed scene of the land ending and the water begininng.... No buildings, no roads, no cell phones, no social media...... Just the land and sea and the same breeze that has been enjoyed generation after generation. I crave a different era..... One untouched by time. And it feels like it's a duty for everyone who lives in this area to keep it as magical as it is..... And maybe go off the grid every now and then to just enjoy life.

Cracked

(Photos by Common Dove Photography)

You'll have to excuse the format of this post because I had to do it on the blogger app on my phone (which blows) because of some technical issues I'm having with the internet......

That being said, back in August I did a post with the following quote right before I left my husband and took our son to the beach....
"For a seed to achieve it's greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, it's insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth, it would look like complete destruction."

At the time of that post I honestly had no idea of what was about to happen, that we were about to seperate and I would be starting a whole new life.... And my shell cracked. Every now and then I wonder if I've come completely undone or if I'm finally on the upswing. All I know right now is that growth is definitely a slow, painful process..... But it's worth it to crack in order to achieve your greatest expression......
