Split

Growing up in a household where my holidays were split between families was pretty difficult if I'm going to be honest. Over the years it became easier and eventually like second nature but something always felt off. Those of you that have been following me for a while or even just recently know that I'm currently going through a separation….and this Thanksgiving is the first one I will be spending without my son because he will be with his father. Tearing up as I write this because I never thought I would be on this end of things….having to "split" our child for the holidays and all that comes along with that. However, I am very thankful for the fact that Andrew has so many incredible people that love him and that he will be spending this holiday with a group of people that I still (and will always) consider my family and he couldn't be in better hands. Also thankful that I have the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with my parents in their new home in Virginia Beach. Hope you all enjoy your time letting those who mean the most to you know how thankful you are for them…..enjoying an insane amount of good food……watching football and the Macy's Day Parade…..and enjoying life :)

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means its going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming."

P.S. Speaking of being launched forward I recently became a contributing writer for a blog for one of my favorite boutiques in town so head on over there (here) for the latest post about how to get more use out of your holiday sequins and shimmer :)

Not Settling

Yesterday I got a package in the mail from a very dear friend with a coffee mug that said "keep not settling" and a note that had me ugly crying (I have the most incredible friends by the way). It was nice to be reminded that I'm finally on the right path…. A couple of months ago I packed up and left a life I had settled for and have been busting my ass to create a new one that I'm happy with and proud of. Its not easy and somedays its hard not to wonder if I made the right decision….but in the words of Sugarland…...
"I ain't settling for just getting by
I've had enough so so for the rest of my life
Tired of shooting too low, so raise the bar high
Just enough ain't enough this time
I ain't settling for anything less than EVERYTHING"
