A lot of changes are happening in my life these days.....and I would be lying if I claimed to not be nervous about them. However, I stopped this morning and thought about how different my life was a year ago at this time......trapped in a situation I never thought I would escape.....trying to fool everyone (including myself) that I was happy and everything was fine......and now, here I am......free as a bird, living in a place I never thought I would be content with (it turns out sometimes coming home is just the ticket), being surrounded by people that truly make me happy and loving my life as I never have before. Healing is a process.....at times it can be incredibly gut wrenching and painful and even when you think you have completely healed new wounds are ripped open......but these last 7 months have taught me that the process is entirely worth the pain and risks......and I'm jumping feet first into the next chapter of my life.

As women (yes, I'm a 26 year old woman with a family and household to run so with all due respect please stop calling me "cute")…….we all have our issues. At some point in our life someone or something made us feel like we weren't pretty enough….or smart enough…..or tough enough. Fortunately as we get older…..those scars tend to fade away and we realize that we ARE pretty enough….and smart and tough enough to push another human being out of us. And it might always be a work in progress but hopefully we start to feel comfortable in our own skin. And when that happens…….watch out……..

For obvious reasons I tend to stick with floaty fabrics and sandals while at the beach.....but I just got this vintage tuxedo jacket and couldn't wait to sport it with some cutoffs and ankle boots. Not your average lime green and hot pink sundress with pearls for the beach....... :)

PS please keep my hometown in your prayers , last night we were hit by a category 2 hurricane...and although I thought our house was going to blow away at 2 AM Doodle and I are safe and sound.....however, I'm already seeing a lot of damage to other's houses.

Sticky Summers

With temps in the 90's the first part of this week and North Carolina humidity rearing its ugly head…..the sticky summer season has officially begun. What's a girl to do when her care free wild toddler wants to be outside exploring all day but both she and said child start dripping with sweat after 20 minutes? Throw on some light chambray, cutoffs and newly acquired Isabel Marant sandals and stay  as close as she can to any body of water in sight :)

Day 6 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "wear an item you've been saving"…….so I busted out this Clover Canyon dress that I've been saving for a special event and dressed it down as a top with some vintage cutoffs. The perfect ensemble for museum exploring with the Doodle man :)
