Break in the Rain

silk blouse: equipment (loving this version) //jeans: 7 fam (similar here) // jacket: old similar here // boots: shoemint (similar here) // sunnies: ray ban

I'll be honest.....this has been a crazy exhausting week....so by the time Sunday rolled around I was craving the work horses in my wardrobe. A silk button down, distressed denim and ankle boots is my fall back outfit. Its not glamorous or sequins and sparkles.....but its what an exhausted wife and mother wears when she refuses to succumb to yoga pants in public, happy Monday :)

Routine

sweater: madewell (available here) // jeans: 7 for all mankind (available here) // shoes: sam edelman (similar here) // clutch: stella & dot (available here) // sunnies: ray ban (available here)

Every Tuesday and Thursday my sweet doodle man has preschool for 3 hours a day. During that 3 hours I try to get as many tasks and errands done as I possibly can and I like to meet my (incredibly stylish) friend Ellen for coffee. We sit outside at Starbucks sipping our coffee and chatting about life (aka food and fashion) and then I run to go pick up crazy pants. I've noticed that I've gotten into a routine for these days, a pair of distressed denim, a knit or blouse and some fierce shoes.....and you know what? I'm diggin' it. I just love the way distressed denim looks rolled up just enough to see my ankles and how it offsets feminine shoes or a flowy top. See you Monday skrillas

Up/Down

1st outfit: top: gap (available here) // shorts: 7 for all mankind (similar here) // shoes: man repeller x superga (available here) // bag: madewell (available here) // sunnies: ray ban (available here)
2nd outfit: dress: bb dakota via fab'rik // shoes: sea of shoes for shoemint
trench in both outfits: old but loving this one

Friends, is there anything you love more than a trench coat? The answer is no (other than family, friends and food of course). I've had a love affair with trench coats for about a decade now after the first time seeing Catherine Deneuve sporting one with a simple pair of ballet flats and looking damn chic doing it.  The best part is they can be worn so many ways. On Friday I threw mine over a canadian tuxedo and favorite new pair of sneaks to run some errands and for the drive down to the beach. Friday night I had some drinks with the girls and threw it over a leather dress with some fierce booties.

The point I'm trying to make it is: THROW TRENCH COATS OVER EVERYTHING. Also, as Anna Dello Russo declared, wear one as a dress! Throw a belt over it if it doesn't come with one and pair with flats for day or heels for night....boom done, instant outfit.

See ya Wednesday skrillas and get excited.....the Doodle Bug himself will be showing off his latest #ootd :)

Spring Transition Piece Part Two: The Tweed Jacket

jacket: the limited (old, similar here)//shirt: t by alexander wang (available here)//  jeans: seven for all mankind (similar here)// shoes: shoemint (similar here)// sunnies: ray ban (available here)// jewels: stella & dot

Hello! A couple of weeks ago I did a post on Spring transition pieces and you guys said it was very helpful so I figured I would do another one but this time on the tweed jacket! I love tweed jackets but done in a more modern way.....obviously I love them paired with casual denim. The first look is more flirty and great for going out.....simply put on a slinky tank and fierce heels and you are good to go!!

bodysuit: mmm for hm // jacket: fab'rik (similar here)// jeans: seven for all mankind (similar here)// shoes: valentino (available here)// bag: furla (available here)// sunnies: prada (available here)// necklace: stella & dot

Another way to do a tweed jacket is to throw on a pair of casual denim and some interesting but still comfy flats and you are ready to take on the world (or your 19 month old :) ) in style!! Was this helpful? Is there another transition piece you would like to see styled? PS I can't freaking wait for the weather to warm up because Ima be rocking these blazers with short flirty rompers like every day.

Have you guys checked the What2Wear facebook page for Monday's surprise yet?!

After seeing the double-plaid gloriousness at Dries Van Noten for Spring '13 I kept saying to myself.....dude, you have to try plaid on plaid. Then last week I found this awesome vest burried in the back of my closet and alas I give you double plaid. Paired with some jorts and fierce wedges I feel like the Man Repeller herself would be proud! Be sure to check out the What2Wear facebook page for a dramatization of me enjoying my "crack for moms" or as some people call it, Starbucks :)

PS thank you to Amy of Fashion and Beauty Finds for making me feel extra special in her post yesterday :)

Hello friends!! This past week has been incredibly busy so sorry for not getting to make my rounds on the blogosphere....I will as soon as I can.....I feel like I'm back and better than ever with the "What I Would Wear" series Paris Fashion Week edition. And what better way to celebrate Paris than with a Masion Martin Margiela collaboration piece? I know I went on a rant about collaborations but this bodysuit is one of those pieces that I don't care if anyone/everyone owns....I HAD to own it. Our local H&M never carries the collabs so when I heard these pieces were floating around on ebay I snatched this one up as soon as I could log into my paypal account!!!!!! Paired with a metallic tweed and destroyed denim......what can I say, I'm in lurve :))))
