"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means its going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming."

P.S. Speaking of being launched forward I recently became a contributing writer for a blog for one of my favorite boutiques in town so head on over there (here) for the latest post about how to get more use out of your holiday sequins and shimmer :)

Day 15 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "create a look with 3 levels of layering." Ok this vest has a built in silk panel that looks like another layer so I technically cheated but whatevs.

And now time to get real…..You might have noticed that I haven't been keeping up with my "new things" lately and honestly I made it through 60 days when life hit me smack dab in the forehead. I've been down in the dumps for several reasons until last week when I heard the best piece of advice that really hit home……. Your mind can only expend so much energy…and if you use it thinking negative thoughts and caring about what people think about you and things you cannot change than all of that negativity takes away from the positive space.  I started visualizing negative thoughts going out of my mind and only concentrating on the positive ones and honestly I feel so much lighter. Doodle and his lightness starting rubbing off on me and the world around me has felt brighter. Yes, we all still have issues we have to deal with on a daily basis….but I'm not going to fill my mind with negative space…..only positive thoughts and lightness.

I read a quote by Oprah yesterday: "We can't become what we need to be by remaining what we are." It felt like the perfect thought to close out the year and start fresh with the next one. See you in 2014

This past weekend was for my fourth time going to the annual mountain weekend with my husband's family. The first year that I went my husband and I had just started dating and I can't even get into the number of funny stories that happened that weekend. By the second year going my husband and I were married and the Doodle man himself made the trip. Each year is spent taking in the gorgeous scenery, holding a trick or treating session on our hall of the lodge and spending hours at night getting a little too zealous over Catch Phrase and Scatagories. I look forward to the trip because I get to bust out my favorite sweaters, scarves and boots.

I adore the Shawlsmith London scarf in the last picture and thought it was the perfect piece for the mountains. And just for you guys if you enter the code SSL40 you will receive 40% off of your order....that's a win-win in my book. Anywho, see ya Friday skrillas.

Hello and welcome to the new blog "Tigers Don't Lose Sleep". When I turned 25 back in June....chopped 12 inches of hair off.....celebrated my 2nd wedding anniversary......then my child's 2nd birthday......my style evolved into something completely different and unrecognizable (in a good way). I find myself waking up and craving neutrals instead of bright colors, leather EVERYTHING, sneakers over ballet flats and pants over dresses any day.

I was wearing this outfit on a coffee date to meet my friend (and fashion soulmate) Ellen a couple of weeks ago and was feeling pretty cruddy and rundown. The only thing I was feeling good about was this outfit. Throughout the day no joke 5 different strangers complimented me on this ensemble. Whenever times are hard or I'm not feeling good my style is my armor. And although its nice to get compliments just remember: A tiger doesn't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep :) See ya Friday skrillas

Day to Day

1st outfit: top: piperlime (available here) // shorts: AB surf shop (similar here) // shoes: sam edelman (similar print here)
2nd outfit: shirt:gap (available here)// shorts: stylemint // bag: louis vuitton //shoes: 3.1 phillip lim (new version here)

I'm sure many of you have noticed that doodle has been in my pictures a lot more frequently these days due to some schedule changes.....but it definitely more accurately portrays my every day life. Lately I've been living in comfy shorts and versatile shirts and making my mommy ensembles more interesting with animal print flats. So this is me...day to day.
