Firmly Planted

Today is Mother's Day……and although there are still so many lessons I have left to teach my son……one that is the most important to me is that he never forgets the Tree of Life…… to stay firmly planted but never stop reaching for stars. The two of us have been through so much since last Mother's Day…..and when I woke up this morning I realized that its important for him to remember that even when life breaks you down…..you have stay firmly planted in your faith and keep going with your daily life but in order to keep going you can NEVER give up on your dreams…..even if they change along the way ;)

Frazzled Mess

No matter how early I get up these days there never seems to be enough time to think about the clothes I'm putting on when I'm trying to get the Doodle Bug ready for school. There tends to be a mad dash around 8:12 on school mornings where I'm brushing my teeth….holding Doodle down to get him dressed….trying to throw things in his lunch box and having a meltdown because I can't find my keys. I've learned that putting on monochromatic outfits such a white on white with some interesting ankle boots (and a hat on seriously stressful mornings) is the key to not looking like I'm about to lose my sanity. I may be a frazzled mess…..but at least I look like I have my act together :)

The older I get the more I've come to appreciate the fact that I'm not perfect……Messy hair……smudged eye liner and chipped nails are kind of my trademark. Perfect is expected…..perfect is inside the box……perfect is boring…..if you ask me, slightly askew is where its at :)

Day 10 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "mix high-end with under $100." Honestly this one was not hard because I do that every day…..I have no problem saving money or selling old clothes to splurge on great accessories because I get a lot of wear out of them. And yes denim and coats are investments most of the time, but I'll tell you what, I bought this moto style jean jacket from Gap last year and I can't stop wearing it. Especially with all of the crazy weather lately I've probably worn it every day for the past 2 weeks. So when it comes to mixing high and low price points….. if you are going to splurge on something make sure it is a wardrobe staple….and also sometimes a $60 jean jacket can be an amazing find!

Day 8 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "wear an item you haven't worn in at least 6 months"…..which just so happened to be my Sam Eldelman Okala pumps. On this particular day I was super busy with 2 meetings and event (and obviously Doodle was with me)….so I needed to look put together yet still be able to chase around a crazy 2 year old. A leather jacket, boyfriend jeans and interesting (yet comfortable) shoes helped me pull the entire day off…..with a little help from some coffee and Kashi granola bars.
