Life is full of its ups and downs…… but the one constant that picks me up when I'm down is the feeling of sand between my toes and the ocean breeze leaving the faint smell of salt in my hair. Forget not that life is beautiful….and that it is your job to see the beauty that is all around you.

Usually by this time of year I start getting jealous…. of those style mavens who are already pulling jackets and scarves out for the cooler weather. In the South, hot, sticky weather can last straight on through October. But for the first year since I can remember I'm not praying for Fall to arrive……because this past year has taught me to stop waiting for what's coming next and to appreciate where you are RIGHT NOW.

A couple of epiphanies from this week: 1. YOU are the only person that you can depend on for your happiness….. and 2. even when you are going through a hard time be thankful that your house isn't being bombed and that you don't have Ebola………. so…….clap along if you feel like a room without a roof…..cuz I'm happy.

A couple of weekends ago I felt the urge to go home to the beach…..and every weekend since then actually. I threw on my favorite silk tunic, a jacket and some gladiators. In my bag was my favorite denim skirt, a bathing suit and two pairs of shoes……Three outfits later I was beginning to see the potential with multifunctional items. If something you love if sheer….buy a slip…….toss a jacket over an old dress and wear it as a skirt…..or tuck a thin tunic into a skirt and wear it as a blouse. My point here is buy items that you love…….and make them work until they literally fall apart on you…..here you go……
