Neutral Ground

1st outfit: jumpsuit: one by emerson thorpe (available here) // boots: shoemint (similar here) // vest: similar here // coat in both: zara (similar here) // bag: 3.1 phillip lim (similar here) // hat: michael stars (similar here) // necklace: tiffany & co (available here)
2nd outfit: bodysuit: maison martin margiela for h&m // blazer: one teaspoon (similar here) // jeans: 7 for all mankind (similar here) // boots: shoemint (loving these) // sunnies: ray ban (similar here)

I've finally put my finger on what my style is:………it can't be defined. One morning I wake up and I feel like being sporty, the next morning its boho…..so how is one supposed to get dressed every morning when they aren't even sure who or what they want to be that day? Invest in a ton of neutrals. For instance, with this jumpsuit it was easy to go with a more boho feel with a fur vest, wide brim hat and ankle boots……but the next time I wear it I really want to pair it with some white sneakers. Change up your accessories and shoes instead of buying a bunch of random items that cannot work overtime for you……then it will be kind of hard to walk in and say "I have nothing to wear today!"

Day 20: Made Cucumber, Radish & Dill Salad….apparently I'm not a big fan of radishes…

Day 21: Made Spinach, Feta & Cauliflower Casserole, nom to the nom

Camo & Lace

sweater: french connection (similar here) // dress: worn as skirt shopbop similar here // boots: lucky brand (available here) // bag: 3.1 phillip lim (similar here) // hat: michael stars (similar here) // necklaces: tiffany & co (available here) and vintage brooch on a stella and dot charm necklace
For some people, clothing elicits a sort of visceral reaction (whether good or bad)….I am one of those people. Growing up where I did everyone wore their hunting camo gear everywhere ALL of the time. Walking into school each morning was like walking through a forest of people literally blending in with each other. So naturally, I stood out like sore thumb in my 4 inch stilettos and carefully thought out ensembles. Back then I used to almost be embarrassed of the fact that I love clothing so much and actually care what I put on my body……but now after I stopped seeking the approval of everyone in my hometown (or anyone else for that matter) I take pride in the fact that yes, beautiful clothes make me HAPPY. Now its kind of ironic to be sporting a camo sweater and all of the feelings and emotions it brings back….but damn if I didn't love this camo and lace combo :)

Well, today marks 2 years of writing this little spunky/neurotic blog. This past year was all about change….the first part of the year I dyed the bottom half of my hair pink because well, I always wanted to…..then in the spring I took a 3 month hiatus because something as lighthearted as blogging can take you to deep, dark places…..during that hiatus I chopped 12 inches of hair off…….in the summer I started back up and THEN a couple of months later changed the name. Looking back now everything that happened to the blog last year was necessary and I'm happy with the results.

If you would have told me 2 years ago that I would be standing here wearing denim on denim……on denim, with leopard AND leather over the knee boots I would have thought you were crazy…and now I have to say this is one of my favorite outfits of all time. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has kept up with me and came back after my hiatus….it has meant so much to hear your thoughts about the blog and it keeps me going in the midst of this insane ride called motherhood. I started this blog after becoming a mom because I had no clue what my style was and over the past 2 years I have definitely learned what I love and what I loathe…….Thank you to Molly for helping me take pics when you were about to give birth to your own beautiful baby girl (and after sweet baby Lilly came!), thank you to Sheree for inspiring me every day and keeping me going, thank you Ellen for everything (I can't wait to help you start your own blog!) and THANK YOU soooo much to my friends and family who continue to visit and support the blog…….entering my 3rd of blogging I KNOW its going to be a great year because of you guys :)

New & Blue

I'm not one to quote country music stars…but this quote hit me like a ton of bricks on New Year's day "Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one"…damn Brad Paisley, you led me to ponder what makes a good read? If something interesting isn't happening on every page of a book then usually you just get bored and stop reading. Why isn't life more like that? Why have I not been treating every day as if it were a blank page that I needed to fill with at least ONE interesting or new thing? Well you bet your ass this year is going to be different. I'm trying one new thing EVERY single day….be it a new recipe, a new shape or silhouette in my clothes or just going to a new place. Its going to be documented right here to make sure I'm following through…….its going to be one good year :)

Day 1: tried new Blackeyed Pea chili recipe

Day 2: tested out the wrapping ankle straps around pants thing…..kinda lurve it & tried Goat Cheese Caprese Salad (instead of with the usual mozzarella…..nom to the nom

Crisp New Day

silk jacket: equipment (available here) // jeans: joes jeans (similar here)// coat: zara (similar here) // shoes: shoemint (loving these) // sunnies: prada (here) // necklace: tiffany's (available here

Let me start by saying my husband and I haven't stayed up to watch the ball drop in 3 years (correction: on Doodle's first NYE we woke up at midnight because our dog had thrown up in the bed, good stuff)….so it doesn't make a ton of sense for me to put on a huge tutu and sequins for just a normal night. However, I always love the idea of starting a new year, I always have this notion of a crisp new day where anything is possible….which is what I'm trying to tell myself EVERY day should be. I figured I would at least put a good outfit on this year for New Years Eve so I took some cues from my favorite blogger and style maven Sheree and paired some leopard with an all white ensemble….whenever I'm feeling uninspired I always turn to her for a new take on things. Anywhos, hope you guys are eating your black eyed peas for good luck and enjoying a fabulous new year.

Dalia

Its no secret I have a flair for the dramatic when it comes to my style…but over the past year I've learned that silhouettes, textures, and the occasional print can speak volumes louder than 30 different prints and colors going on in one outfit. I wore this stunning Castles Couture dress to a (great) friend's birthday dinner downtown a couple of weeks ago with some over the knee boots (with fleece lined thigh highs under) and a leopard cross body. I have to admit I wish I could wear this outfit EVERY day…..but I just don't think Doodle's (church) pre-school is ready for this many cutouts :)
